Helping with your retirement – superannuation

The St.George Group offers all staff the opportunity to choose their own super fund, or one of two St.George staff superannuation funds. Both funds offer a wide range of investment options with specialist fund managers, and insurance cover at wholesale premium rates. Staff superannuation is professionally managed and benefits include on-line access to account information and investment switching, a wide range of investment options, competitive fees and a member helpline.

Protection against unexpected events in life

Eligible staff are covered by the St.George Group’s Salary Continuance (Temporary Disablement) policy, an income protection-style policy which is paid for by the St.George Group.

Rewards for hard work

Under the Westpac Group's Employee Share Plan, up to $1,000 worth of Westpac shares can be allocated to eligible staff, every year, providing certain Westpac Group performance targets are met.

The Employee Share Plan (ESP) is a reward scheme that provides eligible employees the opportunity to become a Westpac shareholder for the first time, or to add to their existing shareholding. Westpac shares up to a maximum value of $1,000 are allocated at no cost to employees. The ESP has also been designed to enable participating employees to benefit from a tax exemption of up to $1,000 depending on their own individual circumstances.

The ESP is offered to under an 'opt-out' process. That is you will be taken as accepting the invitation unless you let us know you don't want the shares during an 'opt-out' period.

Make your pay packet go further

At the St.George Group eligible staff can ‘salary sacrifice’ which means you can take certain benefits as ‘pre-tax’ items, such as vehicles, laptops and superannuation contributions.

This can be a great way to increase your disposable income and better manage your finances. Working out how to maximise your salary package can be quite daunting, so we provide eligible staff with a service designed to help them understand and select the best options. Specially trained Client Service Managers will take staff through their options step-by-step.

The St.George Group provides a range of flexible leave options, which include:

  • Access to thirteen weeks paid parental leave
  • Entitlement to unpaid parental leave
  • Flexibility in allowing staff to take parental leave in separate blocks over a two-year period
  • Opportunity for staff to acquire up to an additional 6 weeks leave to cover for childcare in school holidays, travel, study etc
  • Entitlement to 12 days personal/carer’s leave each year
  • Access to study leave
  • Option to apply for volunteer leave to help the wider community and environment
  • Opportunity to take career breaks by structuring your salary so you can work for four years and take the fifth year off with an income

Community benefits

Help the environment and community!

We encourage our staff to be environmentally friendly by offering staff interest free loans on green purchases such as rainwater tanks, energy and water efficent appliances and solar hot water systems for their homes.

We also promote staff involvement in activities to help the community and environment by enabling them to take time off work to volunteer for a not-for-profit organisation of their choice.
